About the Position

We’re looking for a dedicated Mechanic to join our team and help support our operations by ensuring that all mechanical systems run efficiently and reliably. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems, including robotics, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and CNC machining equipment.

The Kings Mountain team is a dedicated group of professionals driving innovation in the production of cab structures, sleeper boxes, body panels, and structural components for the Mack Heavy Duty Truck. At Kings Mountain, this position will play a key role in supporting and contributing to the high-quality production processes that meet the needs of our diverse customer base.
This position will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Install and commissionmechanicalsystems andsupportstructures for newly installed machinery, including robotics, assembly stations, conveyance systems, and machining centers, ensuring proper alignment and leveling
Perform proactive and preventive maintenance onmechanicalsystems, includingpneumaticandhydraulicsystems, robotics, CNC/NC machining centers, logistics equipment, and facility systems (HVAC, dust collectors, etc.), ensuring optimal performance and reducing downtime
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair critical machine components, including motors, gearboxes, cylinders, and other motion control devices. Replace or repair faulty equipment as necessary to ensure production continuity
Work with automated equipment, including HMI, remote controls, and teach pendants, for troubleshooting, repair, and service verification to maintain system integrity and uptime
Collaborate with maintenance, production teams, and engineers to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently, contributing to a seamless production process
Assist in the planning and installation of building equipment andstructuralcomponents, ensuring all systems are installed according to design specifications and operational needs
Actively engage in root cause analysis (RCA) activities, identifying recurring issues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance
Communicate any equipment malfunctions, or production delays to supervisors in a timely manner to minimize disruptions in workflow
Commit to ongoing self-development through internal and external training programs, including domestic and international travel. Mentor and provide guidance to junior technicians, fostering knowledge transfer and skills growth within the team
Education, Skills, and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Technical School or post-high school training in mechanical or industrial trades is highly preferred.
Journeyman Card or 8+ years of documented experience in a mechanical trade, demonstrating proficiency in the listed technical requirements and competencies.
Strong understanding of mechanical schematics, prints, and the assembly and installation of mechanical systems.
Solid working knowledge of motors, gearboxes, and other motion control devices, ensuring proper operation and troubleshooting.
Experience with multi-axis robots and controllers, including brands such as ABB and Kuka, to support automated manufacturing systems.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair CNC/NC machine centers, including experience with brands like Okuma and Liebherr.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced manufacturing environment with fluctuating temperatures.
Work Flexibility
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekend shifts if required.
