What are we looking for in this specific role?

Volvo Energy aims to provide powerful solutions for commercial fleets to charge electric vehicles. We provide charging hardware, software and services for use by all Volvo group’s business areas. For example, solutions include charger management software, energy management software, fleet management, and payment services.

As the volume and variety of installed chargers at our customers’ sites grows, we are adding talent to our digital team with the focus on operating, testing, and validating our charging solutions with a broader portfolio of charger models. You will be working in a global team focused on testing and verifying charger models to assure a 100% charging success rate.

Your focus will be:

  • Use Volvo Energy methods and tools to test and validate additional charger models with our solutions

  • Perform testing and validation of new versions of charger embedded software (ESW) and related integrations towards our backend solutions.

  • Assess the cybersecurity of charger models as it pertains to integration with Volvo Energy solutions. Identify gaps and problems between chargers and Volvo Energy solutions.

  • Coordinate with charger OEMs to propose changes and alternative solutions and implement them.

  • Manage the process and operations for remotely updating ESW/firmware on our customers’ installed chargers where necessary.

  • Act as expert and 2nd/3rd line expertise to the different Volvo Group customer support teams for solving technically complex problems in charger operations.

  • Act as expert in our backend systems, participate in development projects and collect input and requirements towards our backend suppliers.

  • Together with the other team members, you will build, test and operate an end-to-end digital offering and provide an ideal charging experience for commercial vehicle operators.

The role is based in Greensboro, NC.

Who are you?

Qualifications likely required to be successful:

  • University degree relevant to the position: in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, or equivalent. Or equivalent business experience.

  • 8+ years' experience of verification and validation testing of IT systems and embedded software, preferred.

  • Curious, learning attitude, good technical skills, analytical mindset.

  • Customer oriented and solution focused.

  • Understanding and solid interest in learning more about the charging ecosystem and relevant communication standards for charging like OCPP.

  • Valid driver's license as you occasionally will travel to charger installation locations.

Qualifications that are considered an advantage:

  • Experience from electromobility services, charging systems or energy infrastructure, and have a good understanding of communication protocols and API based integrations.

  • Ability to work in a heterogenous environment with several development teams, both in-house and with players in the Digital Ecosystem.

  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
