What you will do
As a Specialist Engineer in Thermal Management Systems, you will lead the design, validation, and optimization of thermal management systems for heavy-duty vehicles. This role is critical in ensuring efficient cooling, regulatory compliance, and driving sustainability while fostering innovation in powertrain technologies. You will collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders, including Chassis Components and Powertrain Components for internal combustion engines (ICE) and future powertrains.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the design, analysis, and validation of thermal management cooling systems for heavy-duty trucks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including powertrain and aerodynamics engineers, to optimize vehicle thermal performance.
Utilize advanced simulation tools (CFD, FEA, MATLAB, Simulink, 1D) to analyze heat transfer, airflow, and cooling efficiency.
Support roadmap strategies and project portfolios, ensuring alignment and effective communication while escalating issues for arbitration when needed.
Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of thermal systems into production vehicles.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and engineering teams.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions for thermal system-related challenges.
Stay up to date with emerging thermal management technologies and industry advancements.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in developing and implementing innovative engineering processes and methodologies.
Strong technical understanding of thermal management systems for commercial vehicles.
Technical Skills
Expertise in thermal system design & optimization
Strong understanding of cooling circuit functions in diesel vehicles
Proficiency in MS Office, CFD, FEA, MATLAB, Simulink, GT-SUITE
Experience with problem-solving methodologies & root cause analysis
Experience with AGILE methodology
Strong familiarity with Volvo and/or DVP&H standards
