Mission / Purpose of the Job

The mission of the Project Quality Manager Operations (PQMO) is to ensure quality processes (including tools and methods) in product projects adhere to quality standards and processes. The PQMO ensures quality activities are started at the right time in the project, taking corrective actions when necessary, and executed through to a successful launch. The role emphasizes fostering a culture of Continuous Improvement, ensuring successful project launches, and enhancing employee engagement. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally to mitigate risks and drive quality initiatives, contributing to the organization's success in sustainable transport solutions.

Scope and Influence

The PQMO works mainly within the project to ensure quality deliverables are executed according to the activities and tasks described within the Project Assurance Plan, the Quality Assurance Plan, and Quality Tool Plan. The PQMO has the mandate to take decisions concerning project quality activities in the project and how these should be planned, executed and follow-up.

Main Tasks

• Oversee, manage, and communicate the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) for various projects to all stakeholders

• Communicate cross-functionally within project teams to ensure all project activities related to quality are being followed per Volvo Standards

• Ensure complete monitoring and control of the WBS (work breakdown structure/tasks) for the QAP with clear assignments of tasks and dates to meet deliverables in each gate of the QAP

• Modify and update the WBS (tasks) and their dependencies for the QAP according to the scope and deliverables of the project in addition to the standard QAP defined tasks

• Lead and drive project activities using proper quality tools and methodology

• Identify project risks and act accordingly to mitigate project impact

• Coordinate and participate in problem-solving teams to resolve potential project risks

• Analyze, prioritize, document, and follow up on all Project Quality responsibilities

• Support with target setting for quality PI/KPI’s (i.e. project/product audit, Fault Frequency, First Time Through)

• Lead or participate in the creation of Quality Targets, Quality History, Gate Audits, PFMEA, Control Plan, Capability Studies, and Acceptance Testing criteria

• Drive Continuous Improvement through Kaizen activities incorporating VPS (Volvo Performance Systems) / LEAN principals and tools

• Create, follow up and drive risk analysis on project level for Group Trucks Operations (GTO)

• Ensure that lessons learned (warranty, quality journal, recall, internal campaigns, etc.) are considered in the risk analysis and actions are robust

• Coach and facilitate quality tools and methods in the PMO team and broader ME/Q organization with plants

• Secure resource time and quality of key deliverables from technology, purchasing, and production through early alignment

• Track and drive the enhanced control plan activities for PRIME cases related to product, process, man, method, machine and material issues impacting product launch readiness

• Coordinate handover to production quality at plants

Who are you?

Responsibilities

• Coordinate project handover to production quality, including all documentation and lessons learned

• Participate in design reviews, virtual and physical builds

• Lead/support the engineering drawing review process together with technology, purchasing and manufacturing engineering

• Secure that resolution of issues found during design reviews/builds using problem solving tools/methods

• Facilitate/support the PFMEA work within the site

• Secure Part Handling Review process to ensure parts quality and operational safety performance is achieved

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:

• 3-5 years work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive

• 3-5 years of experience in Quality Management preferred

• Minimum six sigma green belt certification, with manufacturing experience

• A university degree, preferably in Engineering
