What you will do
The Manager of Sales & Order Engineering manage the daily transactional activities of all quote and order activities related to Customer Adaptation requests.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
• Manage day to day activities of Sales & Order Engineering.
• Ensure responses to customer adaptation option requests are completed in a timely fashion.
• Develop and drive new processes to reduce order processing times.
• Be a “Champion for Change” with a clear understanding of the needs of all groups involved in the pricing and order processes. Work to develop relationships with other Volvo groups that provide “win – win” solutions to exceed our customer’s expeditions.
• Take field calls from customers, district sales managers, regional vice presidents and fleet sales managers and determine how to prioritize all requests.
• Oversee the acceptance and distribution of TSCO changes as well as the application of appropriate charges. Make decisions regarding acceptance of TSCOs outside of policy guidelines.
• Manage the input to the scheduling of customer’s build requirements.
• Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of sales strategies for specific market segments.
• Manage all groups in the department when senior management is traveling.
• Manage staff participation in customer visits, plant tours, and paper/pilot review sessions.
• Recognize and schedule the individual training needs that must be met within the department, ETO and visits to customers.
• Through personal involvement, ensure that complex and difficult issues are properly resolved together with other required departments within the established time frames.
• Develop and manage Fontaine KPIs.

• Thorough knowledge of the New River Valley Plant’s union contract and its application.
• Thorough knowledge of how all Volvo groups work together to provide products to our customers.
• Thorough knowledge of how all Volvo groups work with Fontaine and 3rd party body builders to provide products to our customers.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the vehicle, which includes the documentation systems used.
• Understanding of ProBuilder.
• Proficiency in use of all aspects the TSP suite of sales tools.
• Thorough knowledge of VTNA’s Sales and Marketing policies.
• Capable of prioritizing and balancing multiple concurrent assignments while being exposed to a wide variety of the public sector.
Essential Educational and/or Training Qualifications and Certificates
• Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in a technical or business-related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
• 8-12 years professional experience in Sales, Marketing, and commercial operations. Preferably with BU experience.
• Previous trucking, automotive, or related transportation industry experience is strongly preferred.
Other Requirements
• Occasional travel required.
